Junior Showmanship

Junior Showmanship gives young handlers the chance to learn about dogs, handling, grooming, sportsmanship, and the bond between a dog and handler. NBSA encourages juniors who are interested in Bergamascos, whether they are new to the breed or already involved with showing, training, or family dogs.

Junior Showmanship gives young handlers a chance to become more involved with their dogs while learning skills that go far beyond the show ring. Juniors learn about handling, grooming, sportsmanship, responsibility, teamwork, and the care of their breed, while also building confidence and developing a stronger bond with their dog.

For young people interested in showing, one of the best ways to learn is to watch Junior Showmanship classes at a dog show. Local handling classes can also be helpful, giving both the junior and dog a chance to practice in a relaxed setting before entering the ring.

Juniors may also participate with their dogs in conformation and performance events. NBSA encourages junior handlers who are interested in Bergamascos and supports opportunities for young people to learn, participate, and become part of the breed community
